WORKSHOP ON DATA ANALYSIS USING SPSS: 8 TO 10 DECEMBER 2022 - DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Department of Business Administration organised Three Day Workshop on Data Analysis using SPSS for faculty and students of final year BBA on 8 th to 10 th December 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The primary objective of the workshop was to develop research and analytical skills among the participants and also to provide training on how to perform important statistical calculations using SPSS software. Dr. Senthil Kumar and Dr. Umasankar from Christ University, Bangalore were the resource persons for the workshop. 

  Day 1: The session for the day was taken by Dr. Umasankar, who explained the primary stages of research and steps in the research process. He explained in detail about questionnaire preparation and data collection method. Further, he continued the session on how to set variables for data analysis with examples. He also dealt with the types and development of hypothesis. 

  Day 2: The resource person for the day was Dr. Senthil Kumar. The session focused on parametric and non- parametric tests for testing hypothesis. He started with the explanation of the Chi-Square test, Factor Analysis, and ANOVA using SPSS. In addition, he explained how to test hypothesis in SPSS and gave hands on training in it.  Further to the above, he provided insight on hypothesis testing, when to reject and accept a hypothesis.  

   Day 3: In the last session the resource persons elaborated on three statistical techniques – correlation, regression analysis, and t–test using Excel as well as SPSS software with suitable examples. The entire workshop was informative and interactive. Students participated enthusiastically and clarified their doubts relevant to the subject, which in turn helped final year students with their field survey projects.
