LIBRARY ORIENTATION PROGRAM: 15 SEPTEMBER 2022 - LIBRARY COMMITTEE

SFS College Library, conducted Orientation program for newly admitted undergraduate students on 15 th September 2022. 700 freshers (I year UG students) from all streams (Science, Commerce, Management and Humanities) attended the orientation program which was conducted in the Auditorium (IV Floor). The program was started with a PPT presentation by the Librarian of the college Mrs. S Dheenadhayalini, to put forth the library’s wealth of resources, facilities, services and staff. Online Catalogue (OPAC) of the library and other electronic resources (online journals, databases etc.) were also introduced in the session for the students.

The main objective of the Library Orientation Program was to familiarize the library resources, services and rules and to ensure that library users can make use of library E- resources and services, adequately and to their own satisfaction; to help the students to access the resources remotely; to enable students to become skilled at finding information through e-resources available under INFLIBNET N-list and DELNET, E-resource package. Thus fostering feelings of confidence and independence to the first year Students. The Program also intended to motivate and encourage the students to use library. They were also explained how the e-resources have several advantages like providing solution to space problems, providing remote access, convenience in use, and academic excellence and also informed the students about “Best library user award” for the students. Thus, motivating and encouraging the students to make efficient use of the library.
