Activity on “Real life Mathematics” – Dept of BSc: February 19, 2020

The Department Club of Mathematics -Maths πrates - organised an activity titled “Real life Mathematics” on 19th February 2020. The activity included presentations and skit on real life applications of mathematics. The presentations were prepared by students based on the topics related to the syllabus.

The main objective of the activity was to promote the presentation skill as well as to realise the importance of mathematics in day to day life and thereby promoting it. The activity was conducted for the Final Year BSc (MEC & PCM) students under the guidance and support of Prof. Rashmi.

For the activity, the students were divided into a total of 6 teams. Each team presented on the real time application of various mathematical concepts which included numerical methods, complex Analysis, etc. Each team gave their best presentation on their respective topic in a narrative way.

The students enjoyed the event by sharing the practical application of their study topic. Each and every student got a chance to put forward their skills through this presentation. At the end of the programme, the students conveyed that they could get a lot of information about mathematics which they were really were not aware off. This included topics like geography and crime detection.

Dr. Nebula, Coordinator, Department of Science as well as the Faculty members Prof. Roshini Anne Koshy and Prof. Jennifer were also present as observers. The students acknowledged the Department and Prof. Rashmi for conducting the activity and for giving such an opportunity to put forward their skills and talents. .
