NCC DAY – TREE PLANTATION DRIVE: 21 NOVEMBER 2022 – SFS NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

On 21 st November 2022, on account of NCC Day, a drive was conducted by the NCC cadets of St. Francis de Sales College, Hebbagodi ,40 cadets actively took part in the tree plantation drive. This was organised under the guidance of ANO Capt. Sampath Kumar R.

National Cadets Crops (NCC) day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in the month of November. The day is observed throughout the country, as it was on that day in 1947 the first unit was raised in Delhi. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru presided over the function of raising the first NCC Unit on the last Sunday of Nov 1948. Thus, the day is traditionally celebrated as the 'NCC Day'.

The day was observed in the college premises by conducting a session in the esteemed presence of the Rev. Dr Roy, Principal of St. Francis De Sales College, Hebbagodi, who was the president of the session, Hav. Sanjay Singh, PI Staff of 1 Karnataka Battalion, NCC. The session began with a welcome speech followed by the briefing of the importance of the day. Later, the session was inaugurated by watering the sapling where in the importance and awareness of the day was told. Further, the President of the event Rev. Dr Roy, Principal of St. Francis De Sales College wished all the cadets by motivating and appreciating the achievements, also told them the significance of tree plantation, waste management and benefits of conserving our environment. Later, the dignitaries along with cadets were taken to the ground for planting the sapling. The day came to an end with a group photograph.
