ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
BSc (Bachelor of Science) is a three year under graduate program (four-year for BSc Honours) under Bangalore University spanning over six / eight semesters. This program paves way for taking up further postgraduate programs in these fields and to enter into the field of research or corporate and social contribution. Bachelor of Science is a fitting undergraduate program for students who have a flair for scientific aptitude and zeal for research-oriented and proven scientific approaches.

A candidate, at the time of admission, will opt for any one of the two core subject combinations from the list mentioned above. Till the end of the fourth semester/second year, the student studies the two core subjects along with two languages, open electives and skill enhancement courses. In the fifth and sixth semester/third year of the programme, the student can choose any one of the two core subjects as major or continue both the subjects as majors. Those students who wish to continue to the fourth year for the honours programme, shall study the major subject or one of the major subjects for the Honours degree.

Course duration: 3 years / 4 years

PHYSICS
The course deals with the fundamentals of physics and its different properties like energy or force. This course aims to provide the aspirants with the foundation knowledge possible for a science-based career. The main goal while studying physics is to devise how the universe acts and behaves. The program is split into six semesters. The classroom lectures are accompanied by assessments, assignments, internships, seminars, and practical sessions

CHEMISTRY
The study of Chemistry is a scientific discipline that involves the study of matter, its compositions, properties and reactivity with other elements. The basic concepts laid down in Chemistry is the foundation of matter ranging from atoms, molecules, compounds and the measuring units of matter. It provides a foundation for understanding both the basis and applied scientific disciplines at a fundamental level. There are six semesters with various teaching methodologies including seminars, assignments, practicals, assessments and internships

MATHEMATICS
The undergraduate course in Mathematics is designed to enable the students to lay a strong foundation in various fields of Mathematics. The course enables the students to develop an intellectual level seeking to expose the various concepts in Mathematics. It also aims at enhancing the students reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills. Mathematics curriculum is intensive and extensive. Software tools like SCILAB and MAXIMA are introduced. Students find better perceptions of the Practical applications of mathematics using their programming skills. The subject papers help the students to envisage an in- depth knowledge of various numerical methods and integral transforms required in Scientific and Technological Applications. Guest lectures, seminars are organized by the department. Mathematical puzzles and games are organized in order to Improve and utilize the mathematical skills of the students.

ELECTRONICS
Electronics is a branch of science developed in recent years and became popular due to the inventions and innovative developments that took place in the semiconductor field. Today the field of electronics involves design, development, production, research, and teaching. It deals with systems by which we can communicate with one another worldwide, by which vast quantities of data are manipulated, and by which highly complex manufacturing processes are automated and with the elements used to realize them. Job potentials and self-employment opportunities are great boons given by this fascinating field of Electronics. Apart from syllabus, the department offers certificate courses in PCB designing, embedded system etc to enable student to innovate, design and develop various projects. The department also encourages students to organize and participate in national/ international seminars, workshops and technical fests to innovate, design and develop various projects.

COMPUTER SCIENCE
Computer Science is a much sought after course at the B.Sc level. During the three years of study the students gain intensive class room and practical training in the Various Programming Languages. Well-equipped labs with updated technology are one of strongest assets of the college and the department. Practical sessions provide authentic and current knowledge to every budding scientist or IT professional. The College takes pride at its labs that provide nurturing ground for personal growth, research and social progress. The training imparted aims to prepare young minds for the challenging opportunities in the IT industry. Students are taken for industrial visits and are encouraged to attend workshops and IT Fests outside the college. Guest lectures and seminars are organized on the latest technologies and information available.

PSYCHOLOGY
A systematic study of mind and behaviour could be called as psychology. The varied aspects that we learn about human being right from the womb to tomb is so essential for society. Psychology has gained ground in today's world. At every place of work, industries, educational institutes and other institutions of importance where work force is involved, the presence of a counsellor is must. Family counselling, youth counselling and child counselling are some of the areas where psychology is very much in demand. There is no loss in taking up this course as the future is bright for those who embrace this course with utmost interest and care.

1. Class X or SSLC Marks Card.
2. PUC or +2 or Class XII or Equivalent Marks Card (I & II Year).
3. Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
4. Transfer Certificate.
5. Passport size photographs in formal dress - 06
6. Caste Certificate (if applicable)

Non- Karnataka Students
1. Class X or SSLC Marks Card.
2. PUC or +2 or Class XII or Equivalent Marks Card (I & II Year)
3. Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
4. Transfer Certificate
5. Migration Certificate.
6. Passport size photographs in formal dress - 06
7. Caste and Income Certificate (if applicable).

Foreign Students
1. Mark Statements of respective country equivalent to Higher Secondary.
2. Testimonial
3. Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
4. 10 passport size photographs in formals (latest).
5. Birth Certificate.
6. Residential Certificate from their country.
7. Provisional Eligibility Certificate.
8. Valid Student Visa. 9. Copy of passport attested by Gazetted Officer.

Incomplete Applications will not be processed.
• The Applicant should be personally present for Admission along with the Parent / Guardian.
• The candidate should satisfy all other conditions set by Bangalore University.
• After the counselling/interview, the candidates selected shall be enrolled after the payment of fee as per the fee structure. Final Admission is subject to the University's approval.
• No Transfer from one discipline to any other is permitted.

Conditions pertaining to submission of documents
• At the time of admission, candidates must submit all the original documents, copies and other relevant documents as well as a hard copy of the completed application form.
• Students should ensure that they keep a photocopy of the documents for themselves before submitting the same to the Academic Office/Admission Department.
• The original documents submitted will be returned to the students only after the university registration or at the end of the program.
• In order to take back these documents, student must produce the documents' acknowledgement receipt received during the time of admission.

Eligibility for Admission
• Admission will be on merit.
• No recommendations will be entertained.

1.INFINITY 2024-2025-Guest Lecture Series


Infinity 2024-2025 was a platform for the students and faculties of the department to refresh themselves with the trends and applications of the dynamic world of science through persons who have proved their expertise in their respective field of study. As part of the guest lecture series, Infinity 2025 in collaboration with Research Cell, the department conducted one guest lecture within the department.

A guest lecture on “Amplify your Ambitions: Indulge your passion for science” was organised on 24-08-2024 from 11:00am to 12:30 pm. The speaker for this session Rtn. Sudarshan Ramaiah, Head of Procurement,Carl Zeiss Pvt Ltd,Bengaluru. A dedicated Industrialist and Director, Rotary club Member. He has passion for Training & Teaching. Rtn. Sudarshan Ramaiah, discussed the topic “Amplify your Ambitions: Indulge your passion for science” very broadly. He discussed how important Science is for the future. A very interactive session in which students were very much motivated to take up higher studies and research. Guest speakers make students aware of current business scenarios and situations. In a classroom students study about the concepts, however, guest speakers provide a broader view on the real-life problems faced by them in a particular niche and also present solutions.

4.FESTEMBER 2K24 - CULTURAL FEST SCHOOL OF SCIENCE


“FESTEMBER 2024” The Event was organized by school of science the event was held on 28-10-2024 the students initial step they created a promo video “principal revealing the theme of the event” on 25-10-2024, ”Millenial to Genz” as per the theme the events are organized by the students (90s nostalgia vs gen z aesthetics) on the day of the event the principal inaugurated the theme and addressed the students and declared the “Festember 2024” school of science. students started with some science experiments and flash mobs. The students were engaged in the food stall, art and craft stalls, game stalls, with their creativity and innovations , both the faculty and students were visiting the stalls and encouraging the students' talents and appreciating their talents. The flash mob included the mashup of songs related to (90s-20s), the fashion show enhanced the traditions and culture.

EVENTS HIGHLIGHTS:

INAGURATION:

Festember 2024 was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Binu emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, creativity, and teamwork, encouraging the students to showcase their talents and make the most of this vibrant Festember.

Flash mob:

live performances blended millennial hits to genz hits, a mashup of songs and dance performance by the students.

Food stalls:

this included students bringing food and selling it for affordable prices and it included stalls such as snacks, meals.

Art and Craft stalls:

this stall included the student’s crafts works such as hand painting, pencil sketch frame.

Game stalls:

this encouraged the student participation and involved activities like balloon shooting, hand-leg games etc.

Fashion show:

The students walked the runway in outfits representing different eras.

OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAMME:

The annual cultural and technical festival of “St Francis de Sales College” aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and promote cultural exchange. This section highlights the outcomes of Festember.

The objective of the Program: To promote learning through Industry exposure and to develop entrepreneur ability in students.

Yuno Packaging Pvt Ltd -, Situated in Bangalore, is strategically located in the heart of Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore. A 35 year old printing and packaging company who have developed expertise in understanding the needs of clients and providing industry appropriate solutions. Over the years, They have grown and have expanded to multiple locations within India. They have Won The Eco-Friendly Packaging Award From Titan In 2021. st. Athuk A K, Project Manager, Yuno packaging Pvt. Ltd , with his team explained to students about the process and stock filling details . Also encouraged students to get a deeper idea on how the industry works in association with small scale industries. Outcome of the program:

The objective of the Program: The objective of this program is to create awareness to the final year students about Resume Preparation tips and conduct MOCK interviews as a placement initiative.

Ms.jenifer Sujitha,assistant Professor,Department of Physical Sciences & Mathematics conducted Resume Preparation and Mock interviews for the final year BSc students.students learned how to prepare resumes professionally and they themselves have conducted mock interviews with their peers and get ideas from their peers to perform good in an interview.
