SPECIAL PROGRAMMES FOR ADVANCED

LEARNERS AND SLOW LEARNERS

The Institution assesses the learning levels of the students, after admission and organizes special programmes for advanced learners and slow learners. We have a streamlined mechanism for continuous monitoring and evaluation of the students.

Strategies adopted for facilitating Slow Learners:
For every 10 students, 4 to 5 are usually found to be slow learners. The mentor assesses the nature of their problems and then motivates them in a friendly way to reach their academic goals. Remedial classes are conducted for slow learners, those who participate in sports, NSS and NCC activities and have to be absent from the regular classes. The important topics are re-explained so that they can perform well in the exams. This practice helps struggling learners to update their subject knowledge and helps them to catch up with their peers.

Appropriate counselling with additional teaching eventually helps to attend classes regularly. WhatsApp groups are created for each class so that the mentors can help students in understanding the concepts relating to syllabus and curriculum.Slow learners who are not able to manage with the teaching in regular classes are assisted through clarification of their doubts, revising important concepts and extra assignments to strengthen their learning.

Strategies adopted for facilitating Quick Learners
Quick learners are identified through their performance in examinations, interaction in classroom and laboratory, their fundamental knowledge,
concept understanding and articulation abilities etc., advanced learners are given special courses and encouraged to do paper presentations and research and books are made available for the same. The Institute promotes independent learning that contributes to their academic and personal growth.

Strategies adopted for student improvement: Poor performance due to frequent absenteeism is dealt with by sending SMS and registered letters to the parents of such students. Appropriate counselling with additional teaching eventually helps students to attend classes regularly. All the staff members maintain good relations with students and deal with their problems in a gentle manner. Each course is divided into different sections and classes are conducted to all students for all branches of Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses. Generally, one mentor with co-mentors is assigned for each batch to provide additional details on the important topics, to improve their subjective knowledge.

A special counsellor has been arranged by the college to provide counselling for personal problems. Slow learners who are not able to manage with the teaching in regular classes are assisted through clarification of their doubts, revising important concepts and extra assignments to strengthen their learning. The students also have access to the course materials uploaded by the teacher concerned on the mobile app (Portal Of Student and Teacher Operation, POSTO) which can be downloaded and accessed anywhere with their phones. Online Skill Development courses, Value Added courses and library facilities are also available to facilitate learning.

Online assignment and MCQs are available on the ERP which helps the faculties in the continuous and efficient assessment of the students learning abilities.
