VISIT TO THE BANGALORE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY: 1 DECEMBER 2022 - LIBRARY COMMITTEE
IN ASSOCIATION WITH BBA DEPARTMENT
The Knowledge Centre of St Francis de Sales College organised one day visit to Bangalore
University Library for BBA department students. The group of 45 students from BBA
department, accompanied by One faculty from BBA and Librarian. The Bangalore University
came into existence in the year 1966 then the library was shifted to Jnana Bharathi campus
in the year 1975. The present Library building is built on star modular structure enabling
each section to function independently.
We were given the tour of the library and shown different sections of the library such as
stack room, Reference section and Periodicals section and how to use the OPAC resources
to locate the books that we wanted by the library staff of Bangalore university.
The library had a huge collection of books, journals, periodicals and theses located in the
different sections with each floor spanning over long sections of book shelves. It also had
OPAC resources for the students. Decades old books were also available to read and refer.
The library was well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROMs
and online databases. We were given information about the Bangalore University Library
and how it is functioning, what are the printed and online resources available, plagiarism
checking software by the Chief Librarian Dr Radhakrishnan.
The time spent in the library was effectively used by the students. It was a fun experience to
visit the library in order to enjoy the wealth of printed resources and online resources
available.
