COMPUTER NETWORKS LAB: 8 DECEMBER 2022 – DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (BCA)
“When learning engages students in what they are interested in, then the learning become fun for
them. While the students study the subject in which they are interested, then their interest level will
increase, and they look forward to it”
According to the new NEP Syllabus framed by the Bangalore University the third semester BCA
students were introduced with the Computer Networks Lab. For the orientation of this course 70
students attended it and was coordinated by Asst. Prof K Ashtalakshmi. This course provides
students with hands on training regarding the design, troubleshooting, modelling and evaluation of
computer networks. In this lab, students are going to experiment in a real test-bed networking
environment, and learn about network design and troubleshooting topics and tools such as: network
addressing, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), basic troubleshooting tools, IP routing, route
discovery, TCP and U9+e3DP, IP fragmentation and many others. Student will also be introduced to
the network modelling and simulation, and they will have the opportunity to build some simple
networking models using the tool and perform simulations that will help them evaluate their design
approaches and expected network performance.
