The Knowledge Centre organized a Library Orientation for PG students. The activity took place on January 8 to 12, 2024 at SFS College Library.

Objective of the program
Familiarization with Resources: To introduce postgraduate students to the diverse range of resources available in the library, including books, journals, databases, and online materials.

Start your successful learning journey by attending Library Orientation. Familiarizing yourselves with Library resources and learning the ways to make good use of them are crucial to academic success. During the Orientation session, librarians will introduce, information about collections, services and facilities of the Library which are all fundamental for student’s smooth transition.

Physical Layout: To start the program, librarian Dheenadhayalini gave a brief summary of the library's physical layout and students were guided through different sections, including circulation section, reference area, stacks, special collections, and digital library.

Resource Highlights: To give students an idea of the wide range of resources accessible to them, the librarian highlighted important resources including academic journals, textbooks, Reference books, online resources and open access.

Digital Resources: Online databases, e-journals, and the library's webOPAC were highlighted as key digital resources.

Operations of the Library: Librarian described the policies and procedures pertaining to borrowing and returning materials, as well as the importance of maintaining a welcoming environment for all patrons.

Outcome of the program
The program helped students to improve their library resource-using skills while also assisting them in getting familiar with the library’s resources. Attendees included students from variety of courses including M.Com, M.Sc-Mat, Psy, and MBA, MA-Eco. Students gained useful knowledge about how to use and navigate various online venues. The orientation event as a whole was really engaged and educational.
